LMFT, Therapist, People Leader
Sometimes when we’re mad at kids, partner, family, or friends we say or do something we said we’d never do? We learn how to show feelings or hide them when we’re growing up. Sometimes these ways bring us closer and sometimes they push us apart. Have you thought: Why did I do that? Can I change? Why won’t they listen? I want to feel more attached and I don’t know how. Why is my baby crying? Why won’t my child sleep? Why does my child hit me? Will my child remember surgery or big arguments or scary times? Why is my child getting in trouble at school? How can I raise my kids or grandkids differently than I was raised?
I have expertise using Child-Parent Psychotherapy, Attachment, and other models with birth-18, parents, grandparents, and adults to learn new ways of coping with emotions and behaviors due to trauma, foster care/adoption, and interpersonal, trans-generational, or historical wounds. I use play and art therapy with kids to address the caregiver’s concerns.
I come from a multiethnic and interfaith family with members who are in the LGBTQIA+ community. I understand the need to code-switch. As a CIS gendered White woman, I have advantages everyone deserves. I don’t know what it is like to be in the BIPOC, API, LGBTQIA+, and other marginalized communities, and I am here to support you in being who you strive to be
