Melanie Aleman

Hello! I’m Melanie Aleman and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I received my undergraduate degree in Child and Family studies with a minor in psychology and apparel and design from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. I am driven in working with individuals and couples in therapy. I have experience that includes but is not limited to working with people who have used abusive behaviors, trauma, have interpersonal difficulties, military experience, PTSD, anxiety, and depression. I work with adults providing individual and couples therapy services as well as adolescent/ teens for individual therapy services.

I would describe my therapy style as supportive, challenging and direct. I use a variety of therapeutic modalities including Bowenian (use of genograms and patterns), experiential, collaborative and solution focused. I meet the client where they are at when they come in to therapy however, I also look to you to take charge within the space to get what you need to move towards your goals. The different therapeutic modalities I use assist in identifying patterns that may be important to explore the impact on your functioning and relational interactions with others.

I’ve received feedback from clients regarding my approachability, authenticity, and compassion as it assisted with their success in therapy. I’m human and understand the difficulty in taking that first step to help yourself. I believe having a strong connection and relationship with my clients helps to have an open space to allow me to walk alongside you in your healing journey. My goal would be to work together to help you make the changes you want and to develop a better sense of who you are in order to make those changes.
