Jessica Arndt LICSW, Therapist

My approach to therapy is relational, collaborative, and respectful. I view clients as the experts in their own lives and myself as an influential guide. To use a metaphor, if we were on a hike together, you are the hiker and my role is as your guide. You choose the path you take and I am there to point out the flowers, rocks, trees, or cracks in the road.

I approach a session with a client ready to process what they bring, but also to provide teaching of concrete skills clients feel they can use to ease suffering outside of sessions such as mindfulness, mind/body connection, interpersonal effectiveness, and managing thoughts and emotions. I am a strong believer that therapy can be difficult work, but does not have to be painful. I work with clients to develop rapport and trust and go at their pace.

I have a passion for social justice and experience working with diverse populations, including Veterans. I also have interest and experience working with victims of sexual violence and those struggling to manage substance use.

I am certified in Narrative Therapy and have training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing as well as SMART Recovery and Seeking Safety.

I can be changed by what happens to me, but I refuse to be reduced by it.” –Maya Angelou

What’s a strong body without a sound mind?  The mind is like a muscle, the more you train it, the stronger it becomes.  While the greats master the body, the greatest master the mind.” –Lebron James
