Do I have to be undressed?

Your comfort is of utmost importance to us. We understand you may or may not want to undress; either way is wonderful, as long as it works for you. Should you choose to undress, you will have the needed space and privacy in the massage room. And regardless of whether you’re clothed or not, you’ll be kept warm and comfortable with a blanket and sheet.

How often should I get a massage?

How often you get a massage is a personal decision. Some people like to get a massage every week or month, and others come in just when they feel they need or want it. It really is a matter of personal preference and affordability.

However, if you have a fever or contagious skin condition, this will preclude you from getting a massage until the issue has cleared. And some conditions may require your therapist to adopt her technique. This isn’t a problem, and you can discuss this with Samra when you meet.

As always, you may want to get approval from your doctor if you’re pregnant, have cancer, and or have a heart condition.

When should I not get a massage?

When to get a massage is a personal choice. Perhaps you want some self-care. If that’s the case, then maybe once a month. If you have a medical issue you want help treating, then maybe more often. There is no ‘right’ reason to get a massage, nor is there a ‘right’ amount of time between sessions.

Do I have to listen to meditation music or new age music during my massage?

You can listen to any music you want; the goal is to relax and heal. If you find meditation or new age music not relaxing or soothing, you choose something else or even no music. It really is your preference, and Samra is happy to accommodate your choice.

Am I expected to tip my massage therapist?

There is no expectation around tipping, but tips are always appreciated. Samra loves her job, and what she does; you’ll see and feel her passion. If you’d like to show your appreciation by leaving a tip, you’ll have the opportunity when you check out. Should you want to leave a tip, they generally range from 15-25%, similar to tipping at restaurants. All tips go directly to Samra; the clinic doesn’t take any of these.

Are there any cancellation fees?

Because we hold your space for you and don’t double book spots, we have a late cancel/no-show fee of $50. If you find you can’t make your appointment, just give us a call more than 24 hours in advance, and we can help you reschedule.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions you have depends on your needs. Many people come in about once a month just to provide themselves with a bit of self-care. Others, who have ongoing issues, like tight muscles or back pain, come in more frequently. Truly, this is your decision. Samra is more than happy to help with a recommendation if need be.

How will I feel after my massage treatment?

How you feel will depend on what type of massage you received. Most will feel relaxed, stress-free, and perhaps energized.

However, if you received a deep tissue massage, you may be a little sore. This is common and usually goes away in a day or two. There are a few things you can do to help with the soreness. You can take a warm bath, with Epsom salt, for 15-30 minutes. Stretching is another great way to find relief from soreness. Also, make sure you drink plenty of water. Your body has released certain toxins as a result of massage, and water can help flush those out.

If you are in pain during the massage, please make sure to let Samra know.

Is massage covered by insurance?

Yes and no. A massage for anything other than an auto accident or worker’s compensation claim is not covered by your insurance, generally. You will want to contact your insurance company to double check. That said, we do offer specials and take HSA/FAS cards to help reduce the cost.
