Bianca Matter MA, Therapist

As a therapist, I am a compassionate witness that humbly walks by your side through your healing journey, however that journey may look. I work with all ages, from adolescents to adults, individuals, couples, and families. I have a strong background working with mental health symptoms and physical or medical challenges that may have some connection to previous events in your life. I work with a Body Psychotherapy foundation, an approach called Somatic Experiencing. This means I work with the whole you: your thoughts, emotions, body, and spirit. This holistic approach is evidence-based and rooted in a scientific theory that considers the fight-flight-freeze complex in a living, breathing body.

My approach combines Somatic Experiencing with family systems, relational therapy in the present moment, and tools and activities from movement-, arts-, and animal-assisted therapies. Some of these methods offer opportunities for clients to express themselves non-verbally, which, for some clients, can be more accessible than talk therapy.

I am certified in Somatic Experiencing, Trauma-informed Yoga, Classical Hatha Yoga, TF-EAP (Trauma-focused Equine Assisted Psychotherapy), and am dedicated to environmental and social justice. I also have a Master’s Degree from my home in Germany, where I studied English Linguistics and Mandarin Chinese. I offer therapy in German or English.

Education, Training, License, and Affiliations:

Master of Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Prescott College

Somatic Experiencing Certificate, Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute

Trauma informed Yoga Practitioner, Wilmington Yoga Center and Trauma Center Institute
